, where allot of debris from the machining may be lingering in the oil for quite some time... after the motor has been broken in, and ran for several oil changes where the possibility of left over harmful debris is minimal, the IN-LINE filters become less critical... So long story short, IMO, its more so a good break-in period filtration policy to catch the bulk of the debris an minimize all that gets to the turbos on 1st start up, and the 1st few oil changes...as you get rid of any random chunks, that are great enough to damage the turbo bearings,etc..etc... ~M.D.
